Where's the best place you've ever stayed?

As part of my first trip to South Africa I was fortunate to spend 1 night on-board The Blue Train travelling from Cape Town to Pretoria. The train was really luxurious with a really glamorous feel. Dinner on-board was an amazing 5 course banquet where you dressed in tuxedos and cocktail dresses and nothing was too much trouble for the on-board team. Something a little different and far more glamorous way to travel.

What's your oddest travel moment?

In Barbados I was doing a tour of the island when suddenly in the middle of the road the driver stopped and turned off the engine. He then told us the this was ‘Gravity Hill’ where cars roll uphill defying the laws of gravity. It looked like we were parked on the start of a hill, he turned the car engine on, put it in neutral and took his feet of the pedals. Sure enough the car rolled up the steep hill not down – one of the strangest sights I’ve ever seen.

Have you had a perfect travel moment?

My perfect moment was spending my honeymoon in the Italian Lakes. We were there in the summer so was really romantic to sit of an evening looking out over the lake watching the stars and enjoying great food.

What are your suitcase essentials?

I always make sure I have my sunglasses and my Kindle. I can easily ready 3 or 4 books on holiday and the Kindle makes it so much easier and weighs less than books so gives the added bonus of more room for shopping.

Where's next on your wishlist?

I’d love to go on a cruise along the West coast of Canada to Alaska combined with a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer. I really want to go Whale and Bear watching and the scenery there looks stunning.
