Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
The best place I have ever stayed is the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac Québec Canada. Quebec City is magical at Christmas time and staying at this grand, castle-like hotel, which overlooks the St. Lawrence River, made the entire trip a winter wonderland.
What's your oddest travel moment?
My family and I were visiting Jeju Island in South Korean and were very excited to have a traditional seafood meal. We found the perfect restaurant with only locals sitting around the tables. We chose our meal and food started flowing from the kitchen to our table. As I was sampling the vast array of seafood, I realized I had just eaten something that was still moving! Needless to say, I tapped all the plates first before indulging after that!
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
I would have to say a light-weight scarf - its such a versatile accessory! It can be used as typical scarf, a sunshade, a blanket for a child or (in a pinch) a diaper! Additionally, I like to have a paper map to study on the flight there…I like to know the lay of the land before I arrive.
What are your suitcase essentials?
We had a very busy week visiting and driving around Sri Lanka we found ourselves at an amazing tea planation high up in the hills. After seeing the women busy at work in the tea factory, we were invited to sample the tea ourselves. We sat down for a lovely spread, and as I glanced down the rolling green hillside, the mist sitting in the air and finally had a moment to exhale. It was so peaceful and scenic. I will never forget that moment.
Where's next on your wishlist?
My next big trip will be a two-week touring holiday of Japan. I am so excited to eat all the food! Additionally, I would like to explore more of South America and Africa.
