Tell us what you want from your holiday

What would make a perfect holiday? Tell us who is going with you, what airport you'd like to fly from and any other details we may find useful, such as if it's a special occasion.

If we need to get in touch, when is the best time to give you a call about your holiday?

Where's the best place you've ever stayed?

The Yangshuo Riverside Resort was a special place that I’ll never forget. Set in a stunning backdrop of karst peaks and fresh air, the hotel had an infinity pool that I was lucky enough to see a lightning storm from. The service and quality of the hotel matched the incredible scenery. The sun was shining the following day, soI took a boat trip down the river to sample some local food and watch a traditional Chinese play at the worlds largest outdoor theatre which uses 12 karst peaks as the set backdrop

What's your oddest travel moment?

When I first moved to China, it took a while to get used to the culture, but as University students, we decided to go to a Chinese club during our first week there. When we walked in, the first thing we saw was a small “catwalk” style dance-floor, with a DJ at the top. The music stopped, and the dance-floor was cleared, and the DJ slowly walked down the dance-floor with what looked like a leaf-blower on his back. He then sprayed the audience with foam and walked back to his booth, played “Someone Like You” by Adele while everyone in the room slow danced, and finally he played a Drum and Bass song while balloons and confetti fell from the ceiling.

Have you had a perfect travel moment?

On the first day of a trip to the USA, I was on my own in New York. I walked through Central Park and saw a man playing guitar to a crowd of people. After watching him play for a while I asked him if I could play a song. He let me, and we remain in contact to this day. The next time I go back to New York, meeting with him is the top of my list of things to do

What are your suitcase essentials?

It sounds obvious, but my camera is my suitcase essential. I take videos instead of pictures, so I can later compile them into a fun to watch movie. It lets me remember my time abroad in a different way

Where's next on your wishlist?

There are so many places that I can’t wait to go, but top of the list for me is Japan. It’s a culture that’s so different to our own and anything else I’ve experienced before, it has a rich history, amazing food and stunning scenery.

Rob lived in China for a year as part of his university degree, and immersed himself in Chinese culture, finding a deep appreciation for the language, food, and history. From then on, whenever he goes away he makes an effort to go off the beaten track, talk to locals and get to know the country on a deeper level
