Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
My favourite place has to be the Dream Downtown hotel in New York. Although situated in the meatpacking district it was a short ride to the city – an excuse to go anywhere in an iconic yellow cab. The restaurant had Mexican food on tap (my favourite), a fabulous sushi bar next door, and a rooftop terrace with stunning views of the city. But the best part has to be the view of the Empire State building from our room – sublime, both day and night.
What's your oddest travel moment?
One of my oddest travel moments occurred in Cha-Am, Thailand. I had arrived at the beach and started applying my sun cream ready to soak up the sun, when a Thai girl came over to take a picture. Me and my friends thought nothing of it at first, until she waved over the other 6 members of her family for her photoshoot. It was 15 minutes of awkward smiles and laughter between me and my friends – I’ve never felt so famous!
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
Something has always fascinated me about the sky, and whilst I was in Ghana, in a small rural village, I climbed onto a building, lay on the roof and watched the stars. In an area with no pollution, the stars appeared so clear and bright; I even got glimpses of the Milky Way belt. It was such a simple setting, but something was definitely perfect about it.
What are your suitcase essentials?
Recently I have been taking my Go Pro on my adventures and making videos from the footage, to remind me where I went and what I did. I think it captures those special moments better than photographs. I also find it difficult to travel without a good book for those long journeys.
Where's next on your wishlist?
My wish list is constantly changing and growing, but right now West Coast America is definitely at the top, closely followed by Iceland.
