Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
I have been to and stayed in some beautiful areas of the world, but one of the best I would say was Bariloche in Patagonia, in a little guest house surrounded by tranquil lakes and mountains and waking up to the smell of home-made bread every morning – simple, but perfect!
What's your oddest travel moment?
Crossing the border from Argentina to Bolivia first thing in the morning, with no food, water or money and then realising that there was no cash machine on the Bolivian side and we were just about to get on a very bumpy old bus for 10 hours, we were all pretty thirsty and hungry by the end – not one of my finest moment!
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
I have had many a truly amazing experience whilst on my travels. One moment for me that really was special was arriving at the top of Machu Picchu at 6am and watching the morning mist clear over the tips of the mountains, after a tiring, hot and pretty gruelling (but totally amazing) 4 day trek through the mountains. Watching the day break onto the abandoned stone city, surrounded by the most beautiful and picturesque scenes and combined with the amazing sense of self achievement, was definitely one of those perfect travel moments.
What are your suitcase essentials?
Definitely lip balm for me, I can’t go anywhere without it! Suncream and aftersun and a decent guide book - I love a good read of this on the plane!
Where's next on your wishlist?
This is a hard one as I have so many places that I would absolutely love to go to, but I would say top of my list at the moment is Vietnam. I travelled quite extensively through Thailand, Cambodia and Laos when I was 19, but missed out Vietnam! I would love to experience the mixture of beautiful beaches, temples and colonial cities that it has to offer.
