Matt's passion for travel started when he went on his first family holiday to the Spanish island of Menorca. Since then he has trekked through the Mayan jungle exploring pre-Aztec ruins, whizzed through the streets of Bangkok on the back of a tuk-tuk and haggled with the locals in the souk-lined streets of Tunisia.

Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
It has to be Jumby Bay. This tranquil paradise is set on its own private island off the northern coast of Antigua. I stayed in a Courtyard Suite which was just steps from the palm fringed beach and feature an outdoor soaking tub set in its own private courtyard garden. The food at Jumby Bay was amazing I would recommend dining at the Estate House where Mediterranean-inspired cuisine is served in the setting of the old colonial sugar mill.

What's your oddest travel moment?
Whilst on holiday in Cuba, my partner and I decided to take to opportunity to visit a traditional cigar factory. We were both really intrigued and fascinated about how they make the cigars and when we looked round we had lost the whole group. With broken Spanish and lots of hand movements we were reunited with the group.

Have you had a perfect travel moment?
It has to be Mexico, sitting in cantinas (restaurant) with friends while they serve up a cuisine of tacos, fajitas, and spicy salsas, accompanied by ice-cold margaritas while the lively Mariachi bands provides the soundtrack to the perfect evening.

What are your suitcase essentials?
A pen - whether I'm filling in one of those fiddly immigration questionnaires or undertaking a Sudoku challenge. A smartphone will do a lot of things but it doesn't produce ink

Where's next on your wishlist?
From the ultra-modern, high-tech capital of Tokyo to the ancient imperial city of Kyoto and the spellbinding sight of Mount Fuji ヨ Japan is top of my wishlist for the moment. To relax, Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort in Mauritius looks fantastic for some Five Star luxury. I'd also like to try the Classic Colombia tour in our Discover Latin America Brochure. My wishlist grows daily working at Kuoni!
