Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
From many of the beautiful destinations I have been to, the Skukuza camp site in the Kruger park, South Africa. It is unquestionably the one that touched my heart. Entirely immersed in nature, it offers one of the best wildlife experiences and safari tours, where you can encounter the “BIG 5” and meditate watching mesmerising sunsets under the iconic Africa Acacia tree. It tunes you into all facets of nature because you can see, smell, hear, touch, feel and even taste wild things, making it all a very sensual and exotic experience.
What's your oddest travel moment?
My partner and I got invited to an Indian wedding in New Delhi, India. We booked a taxi to pick us up from the hotel and bring us directly to the wedding venue. When we arrived there, we found a beautiful entrance with plenty of Marigold flowers creating an archway above us. There was team of photographers that took us pictures, waiters serving canapes, etc. After 5 minutes, we couldn’t find anyone we knew and we realised we were at the wrong wedding. We still laugh to this day thinking how the wedding couple must have been perplexed, by the sight of these 2 strangers, when going through their wedding photos.
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
Watching the sunrise from the Monkey Temple, located on Anjanadri Hill in Hampi, India. We took a tiny reed raft along the river to reach the base of the hill at 5am, then climbed 470 steps to reach the shrine of the mount. When we arrived there, we were surrounded by friendly monkeys and chanting monks meditating. When the sun was up in the sky the view of the valley in front of us was breath-taking: rice fields, coconut gardens, ancient ruins and a river flowing between rocks were added factors to the rich enchanting environment - a very spiritual moment I will never forget.
What are your suitcase essentials?
When I travel there are few items that are a MUST in my luggage: a camera to immortalise the best moments of my trips; a swimming briefs ready for any possible dive into the sea or swimming pool or a day at the SPA; a music playlist on my phone to frame those moments with the right soundtrack
Where's next on your wishlist?
I have an entire world still to explore, however 5 countries are definitely on my wish list: to pay a visit to the Cambodian temples; sip a lovely Caipirinha on Copacabana beach in Brazil, taste the spiciest pepper in Mexico, learn about Incan Empire in Peru and run with kangaroos in Australia.
