Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
When visiting the Cook Islands I was lucky enough to enjoy a night at Pacific Resort Aitutaki. The service was outstanding and the view from the room over the beach and crystal clear sea was stunning. Enjoying breakfast from the main restaurant with panoramic views across the lagoon was the perfect start to the day.
What's your oddest travel moment?
I was staying with a friend who lives in Dubai and she arranged for some of her Emirati friends to give us a tour of their land and camels. We went quite far into the desert and were surprised to see a line of quad bikes waiting for us when we arrived. Having never been on one before I was quite nervous, let alone when we saw how big the sand dunes were! They took us up some of the largest sand dunes and the views were just amazing. We finished the day by cooking a traditional meal on a fire and enjoyed the sunset before riding back to our car.
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
When I was travelling around New Zealand I spent some time in the coastal town of Kaikoura which is a great spot for whale and dolphin watching. I joined a dolphin swim cruise and was lucky enough to swim with a pod of about 200 Dusky Dolphin in the wild. You’re really able to interact with them as they’re so playful. The tour guides tell you to sing and make noises underwater and swim around in circles, they really love it!
What are your suitcase essentials?
I always take a mini notepad and pen as you never know when you might need to take down directions or place names to remember where you’ve explored that day.
Where's next on your wishlist?
I have spent some time travelling around Thailand and Singapore and it really wetted my appetite for Asia. I would love to explore more of the region and in particular Japan as I really enjoy immersing myself in different cultures, trying new food and seeing how other people live.
