Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
One of the most memorable places I’ve ever stayed was the Loki hostel in Cuzco, Peru. This hostel was in the heart of the vibrant town of Cuzco prior to my epic trip up to Machu Picchu. This location felt like a mini town within itself, you were able to people watch on the Spanish Colonial Balconies from your room and socialise in the courtyards with fellow travellers from all walks of life.
What's your oddest travel moment?
An unforgettable experience for me has to be sleeping under the stars in the forest huts in amazon rainforest in Bolivia. This was a surreal experience living amongst all the rich and very wild creatures of the jungle. I’ll never forget the night the heavens opened and all the creatures came alive from crickets, bats to monkeys and caiman. That night in particular nobody left for a shower or toilet break as our guide casually inform us of our neighbour kicking up all the noise was from a local caiman called Carlos, it was safe to say none of us left our hammocks that night.
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
The most memorable moment has to be my 2 day trek to Machu Picchu. I embarked on an incredible Inca trail to the legendary site of Machu Picchu, we were accompanied by a local guide who had us up bright eyed and rearing to go at 4am on the challenging 6 hour trek up to the ancient city. The tour involved a challenging hike up near-vertical steps in complete darkness with nothing but one local Bolivian guy leading the way. This intense hike was totally worth the 4am start for the summit to reveal mesmerising scenery it was truly breath taking – literally took my breath away reaching heights of over 4200 metres. The views were outstanding, once the clouds dispersed they revealed the forgotten world of nature and architecture perfectly harmonised. This is one place that must be seen with your own eyes as no photograph will ever match up to the real deal.
What are your suitcase essentials?
I absolutely cannot leave the airport without packing my sketchbook, this is an essential for me. I much prefer to use my creativity to capture the moment, the feeling and the scene through a quick sketch. I love looking through all my drawings to bring back all the incredible memories I have experienced on my travels.
Where's next on your wishlist?
It has to be India, what a place to immerse yourself in their rich culture, exquisite food and beautiful wildlife. Is it certainly a place of mystery and diversity which I would love to experience first-hand and it would certainly be a destination to visit again and again.
