Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
Baros in the Maldives has to be up there, the understated luxury and service was perfect but I do have to admit I have remodelled my own room on the Diamonds Athuruga Water Villa daﾩcor - minus the stilts, but I do have a fish in a bowl! So it's almost like being in the Maldives!
What's your oddest travel moment?
I was lucky enough to be attending an Egyptian wedding as a friend's plus one guest. We were travelling from Sharm el-Sheikh to Kafr el-Sheikh and some 15 hours later - muddied, stinking and drenched from the rain, we arrived at our accommodation. Our room for the night was a straw stack with a rug over the top which was in a barn with a cow poking its head through the bars/window. I was awoken in the morning to a cockerel and a glass of freshly squeezed ﾀﾘwarm' goats milk. An experience I won't forget!
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
Definitely taking a Vesper ride down the Amalfi Coast as the sun was setting and the horizon was a beautiful wash of reds and oranges. Passing the pretty town of Positano, with its churches and houses cascading down the hillside, before reaching the Amalfi marina for a glass of Prosecco (as I was the passenger) and some gelato!
What are your suitcase essentials?
My essentials would have to be my hairspray. Also, a translation book - I always like to at least create the impression that I know some of the local lingo, even if I am asking where the closest loaf of bread is, when meaning restroom!
Where's next on your wishlist?
An African safari, an Antarctic cruise or the Galapagos Islands! If it's somewhere that I haven't been, I'm there!
"We received excellent service from Lindsay Camelia during our initial consultation at John Lewis in Oxford Street and on our second visit to finalise holiday arrangements."
