Where's the best place you've ever stayed?

Not too far flung, but the penthouse suite at the Hope Street hotel in Liverpool was pretty swish. The suite is duplex with a kitchenette/diner downstairs and the living room and bedroom upstairs. The bedroom has THE comfiest bed I think I’ve ever slept in. It also has floor to ceiling windows at the foot at the end that open out onto a balcony and THE best view of the skyline the city has to offer! Waking up to that followed by breakfast in bed was pretty good.

What's your oddest travel moment?

Arriving on the island of St Helena, a tiny little British Overseas Territory 4 days by sea from South Africa. The island has a population of just over 4600 people, no mobile phone networks, no ATMs and the internet was slower than the ship I'd just arrived on's satellite network! It was so weird to process the lack of modern tech we take for granted.

Have you had a perfect travel moment?

Not yet, but eating freshly caught and barbequed lobster on a secluded beach in the Caribbean whilst soaking up the sun comes pretty close.

What are your suitcase essentials?

I CANNOT pack light, its impossible for me, so I would be inclined to say EVERYTHING! If I have to narrow it down though I would say a can of deet. Mosquitos see me as an all-you-can-eat buffet so I always need it. That and a fully charged power bar for phone death emergencies.

Where's next on your wishlist?

South America. Brazil, Argentina, Peru... The list goes on!

Laura has always loved travelling ever since she first visited the Balearics as a little girl. As an adult she was lucky enough to paid to somewhat indulge in this love and spent 3 years working for a cruise line looking after passengers as an ‘International Hostess (a lot more hard work than it sounds!), whilst travelling to parts of the world she had always dreamed of seeing. She still has this love of travel and can’t wait to visit the next new place.
