Where's the best place you've ever stayed?

Costa Smeralda in Sardinia, famous for its beaches and glitzy resorts. Costa Smeralda is outstandingly beautiful, the picture perfect coastline of bays of white sand and turquoise sea, sheltered by rocky headlands. It really is a place where you can just sit on the amazing beaches, unwind and forget the rest of the world exists, a truly wonderful place.

What's your oddest travel moment?

My oddest moment was when I was staying in Tunisia, I walked outside of the hotel to the main street and the Presidential motorcade came driving past, with serious looking guys dressed in black uniforms, with faces like thunder, followed by a man in flip flops and shorts driving a bright pink Tuk Tuk beeping his horn and waving at everyone. He had us in fits of giggles, so an odd but funny moment.

Have you had a perfect travel moment?

That's a hard choice to make as I have been very fortunate to have many memorable travel moments over the years. However, I would have to select Egypt. This because of the many extraordinary sights, sounds and tastes experienced. When I first saw the pyramids of Giza, I was completely blown away by the sheer size and scale of the buildings and, having the opportunity to go into one of the pyramids, was something I will never forget. I couldn’t believe that I was inside a carefully engineered building constructed by hand around three thousand years ago. I had seen pictures of the pyramids in my childhood and viewed them on film, but nothing could compare to or prepare me for actually being there as it is an overwhelming experience! I can understand why the pyramid at Giza is one of the seven wonders of the ancient world – there is simply nothing like it.

What are your suitcase essentials?

I would have to say my sunglasses and my flip flops; the feeling when you’re just off the plane to put them straight on is just amazing and makes you realise that you have arrived!

Where's next on your wishlist?

I would love to explore around south-east Asia, learning about their different cultures gets me super excited!

Katie knew from the moment that she landed back from living abroad she had to work in travel. Katie’s passion started from a young age when she would go on holiday to a number of European destinations with her family, this then lead her to never turn down an opportunity to explore somewhere new.
