Where's the best place you've ever stayed?

I was lucky enough to stay in an original Maori village during a trip to New Zealand. It was a truly magical evening with traditional music, dancing and food. The actors and actresses at the camp really made me feel like I’d stepped back in time and I learnt so much about New Zealand’s heritage

What's your oddest travel moment?

When on Cambodia’s beautiful island of Koh Rong Samloem I was waiting for a boat to take me around the coast to my accommodation when the local supply boat turned up. It turned out this was my transport to get around the island so I spent the next hour surrounded by live chickens, large blocks of ice, bags of cement, boxes of eggs – you name it, it was on this boat! Definitely a surreal experience…

Have you had a perfect travel moment?

I’m so lucky to say I have had many perfect travel moments, all completely contrasting but equally breathtaking. However my top three would have to be camping on the Great Wall of China and being able to watch the most incredible sunset and sunrise, witnessing the Northern Lights in Iceland and being part of the crowd for Singapore’s water and light show ‘Spectra’. These three moments will stay with me for the rest of my life.

What are your suitcase essentials?

I travel lightly but I always find room for my sarong – using it to cover up for a spontaneous temple trip, as a towel on the beach, or simply to jazz up an outfit, it’s an underrated item! Also my headphones – I love finding a piece of music that I can associate with a destination and then listen to when I’m back at home to remember a particular place and relive that moment. Finally, Sudocream is pure magic in a tub, I promise.

Where's next on your wishlist?

I would love to explore the United States. I’ve heard so many fantastic tales from all over America and dream to create my own memories across the country. From taking that iconic photograph atop of the Grand Canyon and swimming in the Havasu Falls to sailing around the Statue of Liberty and viewing New York City from the top of the Empire State Building, I can’t wait to be able to travel here!

Kate’s passion for travel truly started when she went backpacking across the world. After graduating from a Geography degree she explored many countries from Cambodia to New Zealand and fell in love with every single one. The vibrancy of different cultures captured her heart and she now thrives off helping others discover their dream destination. She is also a self-proclaimed foodie and loves trying out local cuisines.
