Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
I was lucky enough to stay in a fantastic chalet in the Alps, the room was nothing special just a double bed and wardrobe but downstairs was a changing room that you could change into ski equipment and walk 50 m to the slope. From there you could ski down to the chairlifts or the bar and when you finished you could stop in the same place and just walk back to the chalet. It was a quaint chalet in a gorgeous location.
What's your oddest travel moment?
While in South Africa I was travelling with a lot of new people and we decided to bond over a BBQ in the garden of the hotel we were staying at. While I was cooking we had a very inquisitive baby hippo come to see what we were up to and he walked right up to the other side of the BBQ I was cooking at before I decided that 2 meters is probably too close to a hippo and backed away with the rest of the group. Sausages are not that important.
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
Yes definitely, I climbed Kilimanjaro with my Dad and after six days of really hard work and altitude sickness, we reached the summit just as the sun rose. The glaciers sparkled, the clouds were below us and everyone just enjoyed the warmth of the sun. We were told that fog and rain were possible but as we stood at the top there was nothing but sunshine and it was just an amazing bonding moment with my dad. I couldn’t imagine a better moment!
What are your suitcase essentials?
The number one suitcase essential for me is a multi way extension lead, I always have a lot of electronics such as cameras, phones and tablets but only one plug adaptor. A multi way is always extremely handy. Second suitcase essential is a belt bag, I like to always have my essentials on me instead of having them in pockets as you never know who is around, better to be safe than sorry.
Where's next on your wishlist?
I’ve wanted to go to Thailand for a very long time, for every reason. I want to see the hustle and bustle of Bangkok and try some authentic Thai food. See the Pathumthani province, north of Bangkok where tattoo masters have worked for thousands of years. I want to climb some of their amazing mountains especially Doi Inthanon (their highest). To see Phuket and all of its wonders, as well as seeing the elephants in the jungle. Truly somewhere with a bit of everything.
