Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
It has to be the Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort in Malaysian Borneo. We arrived late in the evening so were unable to see the view from our room. No words can come close to describing the view that greeted me upon opening my eyes the following morning. We had an ocean front room with a floor to ceiling picture window. Upon exiting the room you were met with an amazing view of the rainforest which was such a contrast and an image to remember. The hotel staff went above and beyond what was required. When I was unable to visit the orang-utan sanctuary on a couple of days, Melita brought two of the babies to see me on the beach. How lucky was I!
What's your oddest travel moment?
Whilst staying at St Pete's beach in Florida we decided to take a trip on a yacht to explore the area along the waterways rather than by road. While we were passing by many celebrity homes and private yachts the captain decided it was time for lunch. It could only happen in America . . . a sail through pizza express!
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
I would have to say it was when in the Maldives to celebrate a special birthday. My partner had arranged a romantic meal. We were sat by the water's edge watching the sun set in the distance whilst listening to the water splash upon the shore. A member of staff came over to us and asked if we would like to follow him to our table for dinner. Imagine my surprise when he took us to a secluded section of the beach were an amazing table surrounded by candles had been set for us. We were sat for over 3 hours and no words could ever describe how amazing the location, food and service were. I have to say nothing has come close to it since. Not yet anyway.
What are your suitcase essentials?
My suitcase essentials would have to be my kindle, to get me through the travelling; a charger for my phone, as I would love to say I don't need my phone whilst on holiday but that's easier said than done; and finally a guide book on the destination of which I have already marked off all the places not to miss.
Where's next on your wishlist?
Even though my wish list keeps getting longer I have to say it would still have to be China to visit the amazing sights of the Terracotta Warriors and the Great Wall. This would be followed up by a visit to see the giant pandas and then onto Hainan Island to relax on the amazing beaches.
"Joanne not only put together our itinerary in Borneo but explained in detail the process and even gave her own experience of the destination. My husband is not easily pleased but she has even managed to impress him. I will ensure contacting Joanne again on future holidays and have already recommended her to a friend." ﾠﾠ
