Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
There are so many amazing places I have been to around the world, each with their own special and quirky qualities. But my top five would have to be Hawaii, West Canada, the Maldives, Australia and Bali (Indonesia). I loved everything about Bali – the people, the beaches, the sightseeing, the food, just the whole vibe! I stayed in a beautiful private villa right near the beach – I have amazing memories from Bali that will last a lifetime!
What's your oddest travel moment?
It was when I was in the Australian outback working on a farm to get my visa. The farm only recruited max. 12 people at a time to work there, and it was a desolate 4-hour drive east from Perth in the middle of nowhere! When we arrived at the local town, I was getting off the bus when I noticed getting back on the bus was a childhood friend from home that I hadn’t seen in years! She had just finished her farm work and I had no idea she was even in Australia! Crazy small world.
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
The perfect memory which sticks out the most was when I was with my family in the Maldives. It was a clear black sky, dotted with thousands of stars, and we were having a stroll along the beach. As we paddled in the sea, hundreds of stingrays and small sharks came right up to the shore! The resort staff gave us food and pellets to feed them as they swam around our legs. It was the most perfect surreal moment!
What are your suitcase essentials?
I love travel photography - therefore my camera and equipment are straight in there. I always buy two new books before any trip – a guide book for that destination and a good ‘pool read’. And of course, my beloved toiletries!
Where's next on your wishlist?
The whole world?! Africa is high on my list! Diving with sharks in Cape Town, seeing Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and of course a Safari in Kenya!
