Plan your perfect holiday with Jean Russill

Jean Russill
Kuoni Dorking

"Just a quick note to say what a pleasure it was to deal with Jean Russill on our Christmas holiday plans to the Maldives, which we confirmed this morning.ᅠ I was exploring a number of options with different companies but went with Jean in the end because she thoroughly deserved our custom. Her response time on all enquiries was lightning quick (even on her day off) and her manner and attitude is great.ᅠSadly these days we tend to hear more about the negative and less about the positive and I felt compelled to say thatᅠJean is a real credit to Kuoni."

Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
It has to be New Orleans! There is a warm balmy atmosphere, music fills the air wherever you are and it is full of charm and culture. Sitting in the alfresco bars and restaurants in the French Quarter is like experiencing a bygone era. Standing on the deck of a Mississippi paddle boat is truly a unique experience.

What's your oddest travel moment?
I was staying at a hotel in Mexico and got lost getting back to my room. Eventually I found it when my key opened the door. I turned on the light and was shocked to see 2 people in bed asleep. I calmly turned the light off made my way back down the stairs to the next floor where I tried my key again which opened the door to my room.

Have you had a perfect travel moment?
Yes, for my 25th wedding anniversary I went on the Rocky Mountaineer rail journey from Jasper to Vancouver. This is a train journey that gives you the opportunity to sit back, relax and enjoy some of the most natural rugged scenery in the world. As it was a special occasion, we upgraded to the GoldLeaf service in which you enjoy the luxury of the glass domed carriage wowing you at every turn. The food was amazing too.

What are your suitcase essentials?
For me it has to be sunglasses, a hat and sun cream. Don't want anything getting in the way of spoiling a perfect break.

Where's next on your wishlist?
I would love to go to South America, particularly Brazil or Argentina, as a trip to Iguazu Falls is top of my wishlist. Brazil to me has everything, from the partying in Rio to the amazing beaches and scenery in the north, to the wonderful wildlife of the Amazon and Pantanal.
