Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
I’ve had the privilege of staying in some stunning hotels in my time but the one that stands out for me for a number of reasons is the Le Meridien in Ankor, Cambodia. Firstly its location, it happens to be the closest 5* hotel to Ankor Wat, down to the contemporary décor being a fusion of European design with a subtle Cambodian twist. The hotel has a light, airy relaxing feel … just what you need after a busy day exploring all the amazing sights. The cherry on the cake was the exceptional service provided by the staff who were so lovely and welcoming making my Cambodian Experience unforgettable and simply very special.
What's your oddest travel moment?
Whilst in Hong Kong, we were treated to a deluxe banquet meal in a top restaurant. We were all looking forward to it but then the starter came out. It was raw jellyfish, literally just slithers of white jelly on a plate. Needless to say only 1 person was brave enough to try it. We felt guilty but couldn’t bring ourselves to taste it. The good news is the meal was much better after that!
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
Too many to mention, but releasing baby turtles in the middle of the night on a secluded island in the Sulu sea with the moon to guide them was a very special moment and one I will not forget. I’ve also stayed in a fortress in Europe which was quite special.
What are your suitcase essentials?
I try and travel light as usually you don’t use or wear half of what you take but I couldn’t possibly travel without my hair straighteners, eyebrow tweezers and my kindle.
Where's next on your wishlist?
At some point I need to make it to the Caribbean as I tend to head East when travelling. But my ultimate dream would be to trek gorillas in their natural environment in Rwanda as I love wildlife and animals. That would be MY AMAZING.
