Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
I was lucky enough to call the Sandos Caracol in Playa Del Carmen home for a few months whilst I worked overseas. Built within the jungle of the Riviera Maya this eco resort has its own ancient jungle cenote within the resort and enough wildlife to keep you constantly entertained. The white sand beach over looking the Caribbean sea was even more beautiful in real life. It was tough saying goodbye.
What's your oddest travel moment?
After quite an intense morning covering Cuba's history at the Museo De La Revolucion we sat down at a restaurant in Old Havana to wind down and watch a live Cuban band. An elderly gentleman was passing our table and stumbled to the floor and seemed to be struggling to get back up. As we went to lend a hand he jumped back up like a jack in the box and busted out some of the best salsa moves I've seen. He even stopped the lunch time traffic to dance in the road. Cuba is so full of life and personality. It never stops surprising.
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
On my last evening in Goa I was sat drinking a refreshing Gin & Tonic reflecting on the past 2 weeks of our whirlwind trip to India. The sky was bright orange as the sun was setting over the sea, it was just how I imagined an Indian sunset to look. Just a few meters off the shore a family of dolphins then appeared. It was the perfect end to a dream trip.
What are your suitcase essentials?
My camera comes everywhere with me! I still love to get my holiday snaps printed off. You will also find me with my head stuck in a guide book as I love to have one to refer to or answer my questions. Lastly my Birkenstocks are my favourite footwear for exploring in warmer climates.
Where's next on your wishlist?
There are still so many places I would like to explore but high on my to do list is Costa Rica, Sri Lanka & San Francisco.
