Where's the best place you've ever stayed?

The Legend Chiang Rai River Resort in Chang Rai. It is a boutique hotel lining the river Mae Kok and nested within rain tress and vegetation. The hotel had a traditional Thai interior, containing majestic gold statues and large wooden doors with intricate animal designs cared into it. I stayed in the pool villa. Two large sliding doors opened up to a private pool, a swing sofa and a tropical outdoor jet bathtub. This way I could relax peacefully outside in the sun enjoying the nature and watching the fishermen floating past on the river.

What's your oddest travel moment?

When I was volunteering in Sri Lanka at the first orphanage, I was invited to dinner with a local family. I had a traditional Sri Lankan curry with Roti bread... and it was incredible. However I had forgotten that it was the norm to eat with your hands in Sri Lanka, so had the children laughing at me as I spilt the curry all down me!

Have you had a perfect travel moment?

Trekking through part of the Amazon rainforest on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu was a perfect travel moment. It was a physical challenge, but a rewarding one. Having traversed dramatic waterfalls by rickety wooden bridges and climbing narrow pathways in level with the clouds I was finally greeted through a walkway of Inca paving stones to the extraordinary lost city, the mysterious Machu Picchu.

What are your suitcase essentials?

A pair of trainers and a pair of flip flops, because when I am not out exploring in the sun, I am in the pool or on the beach doing sports activities.

Where's next on your wishlist?

I would love to visit South Africa next; the iconic Table Mountain, to see the big 5 and to go surfing along the beautiful beaches. It would then be amazing if I could finish the holiday off with a few nights in Mauritius!

Georgie has always enjoyed embarking on adventurous family holidays; however her passion for travel began when her mum took her and her sister to Thailand when she was 14 years old. She was fascinated by the change in culture; the food, people’s behaviours and the landscapes. Since then it has been her goal to experience and immerse herself in as many different cultures as possible. Throughout her time at university she volunteered at 2 children’s orphanages in Sri Lanka, climbed the Inca trek in Peru and travelled across Bali and Lombok with escorted tours. After graduating she lived and worked in Monaco in order to improve her French, explore the mountainous Cote D’Azur region and try the local cuisine.
