Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
Besides the beautiful cruise liners themselves, I remember the paradise setting of Hamilton Island just next to Whitsunday Island. Spotting koala bears in the trees, hearing frogs out on our balcony and snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef were a few of the treasured memories I take from there. White sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, and quiet little golf buggies as the main mode of transport, it was a week of absolute paradise during our trip to Australia’s east coast.
What's your oddest travel moment?
After taking off in a sea plane from Juneau, Alaska, and flying over calving glaciers that go as far back as 20 miles, we landed on the lake at Taku Lodge, sat on a little island covered in Alaskan woodland. While indulging in a salmon-baked feast with my family and listening to a guide tell us the history of the island, we looked up from our table to see a black bear outside, on its hind legs picking salmon off the barbecue! It was the most bizarre yet incredible experience of being that close to a wild bear.
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
It’s hard to pinpoint a perfect moment, but I loved my time in Hawaii where we got off the ship at Kalapaki Beach, a small cove-like beach on the island of Kauai. Of all the beaches I had been to previously in Hawaii it was much quieter, and I remember taking out a paddle board and wading out into the sea as well as enjoying a traditional Hawaiian meal of shrimp and poke bowls sat on the sand at sunset with family. A moment where I felt true happiness.
What are your suitcase essentials?
A no-brainer essential for me is my camera – I love taking photos and documenting where I have been. I also try and make sure I’ve always got the right electrical adaptor for the country I’m visiting!
Where's next on your wishlist?
Something on my bucket-list is an African safari, as well as island-hopping the Indian Ocean and venturing to Sri Lanka, the Maldives or Mauritius.
