Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
There are so many places that I have been lucky enough to visit and stay, but every committed traveller likes a bit of luxury and therefore the Sheraton Mirage, Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia is the one that springs to mind. From the white stretch limo that collected me from the airport to the eighteen lagoon pools, the five mile sandy beach beyond the palm fringe hotel grounds, the fine dining restaurants, the lush tropical gardens, not forgetting the spa bath in my cabin room….sheer bliss.
What's your oddest travel moment?
Well, I was in South Africa on a Safari earlier in the year and whilst I was there we were camping in Kruger National Park. I woke up in the middle of the night to use the rest room, it was dark so I was there with my flashlight un zipping my tent and come face to face with a Zebra.
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
It is almost an impossible question for me to answer, the world truly is an amazing place, but one place that I had longed to visit was Machu Picchu in Peru, and when I finally made it, it didn’t fail to live up to those expectations. Overlooking the Sacred Valley and nearly eight thousand feet above sea level, the ruined Inca city is a place that conjures the mystic and awe in equal measures and makes it my perfect travel moment……… for the time being!
What are your suitcase essentials?
It has to be my sun glasses and a good guide book. With my guide book in hand I can explore to my heart's content!
Where's next on your wishlist?
I would love to experience the brashness of Las Vegas, then fly to Los Angeles and drive up along the West Coast and Big Sur, with a little detour to Yosemite National Park to see the giant Redwoods before hitting San Francisco.
