Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
When I was in New Zealand we stayed a few nights at a family friend’s house near Hokitika but in the middle of nowhere. They have lots of land with horses and other animals, and the house was surrounded by so much nature, lush, untouched forests, towering mountains and overlooking a valley. It was the quietest, darkest and most beautiful place I have ever seen at night - real New Zealand!
What's your oddest travel moment?
I have to say that weird things always happen to me abroad so it is very hard to choose… I’m the person who has been stung by a jellyfish and not realised until they come out of the water half an hour later, bitten by a spider in Australia and also not realised for days until my calf swelled up and I had to go to hospital, and I actually just recently stood on a fish jumping waves in the Algarve which then injected me with it’s venom… I have to admit that they make for funny stories though.
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
I mostly travel with my partner, Enrique, and I must say that I have loved every single travel moment we have had together (and there has been a few!). If I had to name one, when we were in Ibiza we had heard rumours about this magical place to catch the sunset on top of cliff overlooking an inhabited island called Es Vedra and behind it, the open ocean. To get there we had to drive on a dirt road up the cliff and then walk the rest of the way, but the view that met us was the definitely worth it. One of the best sunsets I have ever seen in my life! We took out a few ice cold beers and watched the colours change in the sky, before the sun finally sunk behind the horizon.
What are your suitcase essentials?
A good book and some crosswords to do on the plane!
Where's next on your wishlist?
My list is too long! I would definitely love to do a long trip around South America, and stop at Cuba on the way.
