Where's the best place you've ever stayed?

It has to be on the houseboat on the Kerala Backwaters οΎ– it was such a relaxing experience amidst beautiful surroundings. I spent a night away from hustle and bustle - relaxing with a good book and amazing food! It really is a way to travel in style and get truly pampered.

What's your oddest travel moment?

This has to be during my time in Japan where I was hiking Mount Fuji. After climbing for nine hours and almost at the top, I stumbled trying to get over a steep rocky section. The next thing I knew, a lovely little old Japanese man appeared from nowhere. He took my bag, gave me his hand and helped me up, before walking me up to the top to meet my friends. He wasn't the slightest bit out of breath, but I had collapsed onto the nearest rock to watch the sunrise in an exhausted heap.

Have you had a perfect travel moment?

I think this has to be either seeing Sydney Harbour for the first time or the Great Wall of China. They are two places that have been on my to-do list for a long time and both were totally worth the wait. On the Great Wall, I managed to find a quiet section of the wall for my own for five minutes to take it all in - an absolutely beautiful and peaceful place and a truly wonderful moment.

What are your suitcase essentials?

It has to be my Birkenstock sandals and a good guide book. With my book in hand I can explore to my heart's content! Also, of course, my trusty camera to capture all those memories.

Where's next on your wishlist?

I love the saying "I've not been everywhere but it's on the list!" There are just so many places to choose from! However, Peru is definitely number one on the list and in particular Machu Picchu. It has been a dream for a long time and one I fully intend to make come true as soon as possible. I'd also really love to see the Northern Lights, so Iceland or Norway are on the list too.
