Where's the best place you've ever stayed?
It has to be New York and Washington D.C. Having never visited the USA before I was amazed by the difference in both cities. New York had such an amazing vibe, busy, bustling, huge… it certainly never sleeps. I was blown away to be walking around the actual scenes of many movies I had seen over the years. After an Amtrak rail transfer to Washington DC, you can immediately see and feel the difference in the two cities. Washington feels calmer, no high rise towers as no buildings are allowed to be higher than the Capitol Building, amazing monuments, history and of course, The White House. I stayed in the beautifully elegant Omni Shoreham hotel, which has a history of accommodating and entertaining Presidents, film stars and movie stars. A night time trolley tour is a must.. to see these amazing landmarks lit up is truly spectacular.
What's your oddest travel moment?
It would have to be the bike tour around Washington D.C. Not something I would have put at the top of my ‘to do’ list, but something I’m so pleased I did, it was such a different, fabulous experience. Washington is so flat and this was a great way to have a guided tour around the monuments.
Have you had a perfect travel moment?
My perfect travel moment has to be when I was in Egypt. We did an excursion into the Desert by quad bike, followed by a traditional Bedouin meal in a traditional tent.. We then did some star gazing with a professional Astronomer. The whole experience was something I will never forget.
What are your suitcase essentials?
Definitely a high factor suncream as I’m so fair.. and my mobile phone… I just love updating my facebook page with my holiday snaps!!!
Where's next on your wishlist?
I would love to visit the Maldives, the Islands look spectacular or perhaps the amazing La Reunion with its jagged peaks and lush forests. It reminds me of Jurassic Park!
